Ananuri and Kazbegi

One-day tour to Ananuri and Kazbegi  with the itinerary  from the capital city Tbilisi  to the snow-capped peak of the Mount Kazbek  will open up an enchanting Georgia . On the way there, you will visit a bewitching Ananuri complex located at the quiet waters of the Jinvali Lake, see the beauty of mountainous rivers and gorges of Kazbek, and enjoy the tranquility in the Gergeti church, which is the final destination of the journey. There you will get an amazing view on the village of Kazbegi and grand Mount Kazbek.

Let’s forward to giant Kazbek (5047 m), which is the third highest peak of the Caucasian mountains in Georgia. Kazbegi is one of the historical regions of Georgia, through which is passing the ancient Georgian Military Road.

On the way we will take a look at the Ananuri fortress built in early feudalism era, offering picturesque view on Zhinvali reservoir - a special gift for lovers of pictures’ taking. In its depth were sank many small settlements and even a church, which tower can be seen in the days when water level falls down. Once upon a time it was a habitable valley.

After driving through the  Gudauri settlement located at an altitude of 2200 m, we will arrive in  Kazbegi. At Lunch, try the local region cuisine: khinkali, plovani, habidzgina (on yourself). And, finally, Kazbegi settlement. Let’s visit  Temple of Holy Trinity in nearby village  Gergeti (14th century). The temple is located at an altitude of 2170 m above sea level, offering the breathtaking view of Kazbegi valley and the picturesque peaks of Caucasus Range Mountains. Currently there is a monastery.
